Vegas and DVDA Both Locking Up

I'm not sure if I'm dealing with a virus, Windows XP (Pro) issue, or Vegas 6 and DVDA3 issue, but only in the last 24 hours have I experienced both Vegas and DVDA locking up and freezing, with no way to exit the programs (via CTRL-ALT-DELETE).

With Vegas, it happened several times Tuesday while I was trying to edit a 15-minute holiday video, both during the editing process and later (after several reboots) during rendering.

DVD Architect also locked up while trying to render a project that contained three MPEG-2 files.

Up to this point, I've had no problems. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I'm new to Vegas but have been using other editingsuites for years, and have seen this before.
Have you tried other programs (other than veg and DVDA) to see if they lock up too?
You could check cooling of the CPU? you could try an on-line virusscanner to see if you had virus.

I would try cleaning out your heatsync on your cpu, cleaning out your airway entry and exit points on your case and get any dust out of your case that you can. I would use a compressed can of air that you can purchase from wal-mart to do this.
If that does not fix the problem, try rendering a different project that is about the same length or longer that you have rendered before to see if it locks up. If it does, then there is definitely a problem, if it doesn't then there is something that Vegas/DVDA doesn't like at the point it locks up during rendering. Try first rendering to avi or cutting the project into smaller chunks and render to avi each chunck. Piece them back together and render as an mpg-2 for DVDA usage. Hopefully this will help.

I would also check the free space on your C Drive in case it is insufficient for the Cache to work correctly
