Vegas and Motu 828

hi, I have a borrowed Motu 828 firewire interface that I wanted to use to output eight channels of audio via vegas. Vegas doesn't seem to recognize the hardware and I get a message saying " no motu firewire audio devices detected", when I start up vegas. Anyone have experience with this, are there some drivers that I need to download?
thanks

Is the 828 showing up in your Device Manager?

There are very specific steps to install the drivers for Windows. I don't have my documentation on hand, but I believe that you should not install the device from the autorun when you put in the CD. Rather you boot up with the unit off, then when you turn on the 828 it should bring up a new hardware detected alert, install the drivers from the disk from there- use "select the hardware from a list" then "have disk" and browse to your CD (or folder if you have updated drivers not on the disk.) Again I don't have it right in front of me, so I may have this totally BACKWARDS! lol. Regardless, this seems to be an issue with the soundcard. I get that same message if I open up vegas and the unit isn't powered on. - oh yeah- You have the power on and the firewire cable pluged in right? :P Check out the MOTU site for some tips if you're still having trouble.

This error msg is from the MOTU ASIO driver. Make sure you have the ASIO drivers installed correctly and the driver configured correctly.

We have tested against the MOTU Firewire hardware and have not seen any problems, assuming the driver is installed and functioning correctly.

The 828 works fine here in Vegas. You need to grab the drivers here http://www.motu.com/downloads/firewire/SETUPFW3.30.zip . Make sure the 828 is off when you install them.
