Vegas and Noise Reduction / Batch Converter / installation error

Question 1:

Is the Vegas Video 3.0 appropriate DirectX host application for SonicFoundry's Noise Reduction? To repair Video audio tracks as well as other stand-alone audio sources?

Question 2:

During the download of Vegas Video, I also downloaded the Batch Converter, said to be FREE with the Vegas purchase (on the download page). But it won't let me register using the Vegas serial number. Any ideas?

Question 3:

During the installation of the Vegas Video 3.0, I got error "Unable to register vmfplug2.dll". Everything seem to be working fine so far, though, but I did not play with MPEGs yet... What is this DLL for? Why it can't be registered? I tried to find it to register it by hand (regsvr32) but it is not on my system. This was upgrade installation from Video Factory.

By the way - I left message for SF support, but it is a week now and I did not receive any response.

Thanks for your help.

Joe

I can only address Question 1.

Yes, you can use SF Noise Reduction Plug-In from within VV3. I'm successfully using it to cleanup backgound audio noise in my home movie clips.

Question 2: (Batch Converter free with Vegas purchase)

I'm not sure, BUT the Batch Converter MAY only be FREE with the boxed version (retail purchase). I upgraded to VV3 from VV2 so I too would be interested in acquiring Batch Converter (for FREE) to utilize in my projects as well. (If I'm eligible.)

Any Sonic Tech feedback here would be greatly appreciated...or anyone else who can shed some light on the "FREE" Batch Converter included with Vegas Video 3.

Question 3: (VMFPLUG2.DLL)
Are you sure it's VMFPLUG2.DLL you are "missing". I do not have that either - and never recieved an error from VV3 (during install or anytime). I do have WMFPLUG2.DLL installed in the C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared Plug-Ins\File Formats folder.

Hope this helps...

Very odd. I know i looked over the download page very carefully when i upgraded to VegasVideo 3. I don't recall seeing anything mentioned about Batch Converter. I got Batch Converter free when i registered Sound Forge 5.

When installing Batch Converter 5.0b (for users of Sound Forge 5), it tells me "The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again. There are two locations in the "Updates" section of Sonic Foundry's website in which to download this version of BC5 for users of SF5. The first is under the link to download Sound Forge, the second under Batch Converter. Both copies give this error message. This error was present before when version 5.0a was around. I do have a copy of Batch Converter 5.0b that will install (downloaded from a previous installation of Windows), but the program will not simply open like before. Instead, it gives me the option to enter a serial number or activate the demo version. What's the deal?
