Can see, can't see? - make up your mind and ask again.

If you looked at my desktop right now, your eyes wouldn't see any icons for video files. However, there IS one HDV file on the desktop.

Now, if you tried to open this same HDV file in Vegas, you could, because you CAN see it in Vegas.

But you CAN'T see this same HDV file if you looked at my desktop -- outside of Vegas.

Why?

Are you sure that the file is actually on your desktop? Once in Vegas, are you seeing it in explorer or media manager? What you're describing doesn't sound possible unless this is an anomaly specific to HD (I don't work with HD).

OK,
but if you look in your desktop folder using Windoz Explorer is the HDV file there?

Are you sure it's not in All Users/Desktop.

This will allow you to see it on your desktop via one way, but not in another...if you know what I mean.

Also, if your desktop is extended across more than one display, it may be on the other display's desktop (second monitor turned off, a window covering the second desktop where the HDV file is)
