Vegas and WAV files edited by Nero WaveEditor

To edit PCM wav files I use Nero WaveEditor, which is part of the Nero Burning Rom product. My problem is that any PCM wav file that I create or modify with this tool seems to be incorrect/nonstandard. When I attempt to import these files into Vegas, nothing happens. When I try to preview them, nothing happens. The only application that can play them is MS Media Player. My other wav editor, Creative WaveStudio, says the file is of unknown type and fails to open it as well. By the way, wav files that I create with Creative WavStudio are just fine.

When I right-click on the wav file to check its properties and look at the Summary tab, I notice there is a missing parameter. The first parameter is supposed to be "Audio format PCM". Based on the examination of about 50 or 60 various wav files on my system, I strongly suspect that all standard wav files must have this parameter listed to be correctly identified.

Has anyone had this same experience or knows of a fix?

Stop using Nero for anything is my suggestion. It's never adhered to anything but it's own shaky formats and is interoperable with nothing outside of itself in every experience I've had or heard about from others.

For those of you who may have experienced this problem, Nero has finally acknowledged the bug in an email to me and corrected it in their latest software release dated 4/26/06. Interestingly, their release notes made no mention of this particular bug fix.

I'll admit Nero has some vaguely usefull stuff however for editing audio seeing as how you have Vegas why aren't you using it ?

I'm hard pressed to think of anything that Nero can do that can't be done easier in Vegas, I can think of many things that can be done in Vegas that can't be done in Nero.
