Vegas app window slow reactivation

In the process of editing (with lots of HDV (m2T) and HD (mxf) footage), when I click to another windows Application and back to the Vegas window, then Vegas hangs for 10-20 seconds (while the hard disk clatters, presumably re-seeking something or other). I tried disabling event thumbnails and waveforms but that made no significant difference.

Any tips to make it snappier?

Are you using other applications to edit your m2t or HD footage (or other project media files) while Vegas is running? If not, then you can disable this option:

Preferences > General tab > "Close media files when not the active application"

Then Vegas doesn't have to reactivate media clips when it regains focus. You may also consider the "Close audio and MIDI ports..." option also.

This is just a guess...may be totally wrong; but I have a hunch.

Yes! That did it exactly. Now it reactivates instantly. No issues as no other app is using the media files. Muchas Gracias!
