I bought Vegas Pro for use on my Win95 system, the only
machine I've ever had that runs smoothly for hours on end.
It never crashes! So, you can understand my reluctance to
upgrade that machine to Win98 just to use Vegas Audio 2.0
(the only non-Win95 compatible app I want right now).
However, I also have a laptop running Win98 (and not without
glitches, I might add). I downloaded the demo for Vegas
Video 2.0 onto the laptop and I like the new stuff.
My question: I might consider mixing on my Win98 laptop
with Vegas Audio 2.0 or Vegas Video 2.0 if I could use a
USB/SPDIF interface (ideally the nicely-priced Roland UA-
30) to get the audio out of the laptop and into my
monitoring system. The laptop's sound card sucks, and most
replacement PCMCIA cards are mucho expensive (~$600).
Is anyone out there doing this?
Thanks,
Carl
