vegas audio 3 and windows XP clicking problems

i have just upgraded to a new computer that came wiht windows XP. Now before i was running vegas audio on a slower computer with windows me but now that i have upgraded the audio keeps clicking and it is really bad. someone please help tell me what settings i have to change to make this thing work

Short form
Right click My Computer in the start menu or on the desktop if diplayed there>Select Properties>Select Visual Effects Tab>Select Adjust for Best Performance>Click Apply
Also, In the same dialog box Click Advanced Tab>Under Processor Scheduling>Select>Background Services>Click Apply.

That should do it,

Metronomic clicks or a bit random? You might be using one of the audio FX that require licenses -- and lost it during the reinstall. Take a look see if you have any audio filters. if so, look at them. The "demo" watermark will be visible.

Otherwise, just guessing.

i bought me a new sound card and that took care of it. i guess the sound card that came wiht the new computer couldnt handle the proccessing
