Vegas audio troubles with Canon 4 ch MXF

Canon XF205 in 4-channel audio mode
Import MXF files: channels 1-2 are fine in Vegas
Channels 3-4 have frequent full-scale digital pops

SanDisk Extreme Pro CF card

This happens in Vegas 11, 12, and 2 flavors of 13 (including latest) on three different Windows 7 boxes. Changing inputs on cam has no effect. Whatever is on 3/4 is compromised.

Camera was suspect until I played the files elsewhere.

Same files are totally clean on all four channels when played in Adobe Premier CS6. Also totally clean in Canon XF Utility 1.4 which supports 4 channels. Also clean on VLC. All four channels have identical specs as displayed in VLC.

When importing MXF as multichannel (in preferences) Vegas creates 4 audio tracks from these files. Top two are fine. Bottom two are full of pops.

Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

You don't say how you are "creating" 4ch audio - is it 4 discrete inputs, or blend two channels at at a time. Be clear about your input lashup. and what you expect to achieve.

Important question - are you using any hookups live to camera with transformer bus powered mics, or are they all ? working on independent solo battery.

I will be as clear as I can.

The XF205 has two external XLRs and two internal mic channels. All four can be recorded at once as discrete 48 kHz 16-bit streams. I recorded all four at once, thus creating an MXF file with four channels. This requires putting the camera in 4-channel mode rather than the default 2-channel mode. Once in this mode, you can decide what input feeds what track quite freely.

No blending. The point of recording four discrete channels is to use them separately in an editor to permit choices in audio post.

No hookups. No ground loops. Battery power. To repeat, there is no issue whatsoever with the XF205. The issue is with Vegas.

Please re-read the OP. All four channels are perfectly clean in any editor/player I have other than Vegas.

Thank you for your interest.
