Chances are his Premiere renders faster, but Avid likely doesn't. I've only got Express ProHD, but I don't have a Mojo accelerator. It's about the same as Vegas in render speed on my laptop.
If you have HT only, you won't see a huge appreciable difference in render times from Vegas 5 to Vegas 6.
Premiere renders a bit faster overall, but Vegas has higher quality on the render. Just render out a short title or page curl and you'll see this immediately.

Thanks spot, that makes sense. So premier is faster in rendering. About how much faster? Let's say a wedding with not too many effects that's 1:30 minutes. Is it minutes in difference? Will the final rendered video look better in vegas than premier?

wel i used them all for different purposes and the choices offered to u within Vegas and the workflow itself, is MUCH faster and of a higher quality end result than premiere ANYDAY..
On top of that, Vegas filters poo on most others on the market. Edius/Canopus/Stormfx comes a close second, but nowhere near as clean.
Why a wedding vendor would need an avid system is beyond me
