Having same issue. Going to forum for VP 23 to see if there are answers there.

I have the same problem.
What GPU do you have ? I use the Arc B580

You are not doing anything wrong (to my knowledge).

Vegas Capture for me hasn't worked consistently at all for several versions now. Others have reported the same general issues. Some have it working. So I've downloaded OBS which others are using for screen capture.

I honestly think VEGAS Capture should be removed.
It’s no longer necessary, as there are already plenty of reliable and optimized screen recorders available — especially those that come bundled with modern graphic card software like NVIDIA ShadowPlay or AMD ReLive.

VEGAS Capture feels more like a burden now — it crashes often, lacks proper GPU optimization, and its interface feels outdated. Instead of maintaining this redundant tool, the development team could focus on more valuable improvements.

Removing VEGAS Capture would actually help simplify the app and free up resources for features that truly enhance the editing experience.

Your Thoughts?????

I usually use OBS, like most people. Inspired by this thread, I tried Vegas Capture in VP 2023, but didn't encounter any of the problems described when recording from the screen, window, or LifeCam.
Nevertheless, I find the user interface and, above all, the settings options rather mediocre, so I'm sticking with OBS.

I used Vegas Capture in Vegas 21 , and it works fine ! I hope they fixed the problem in Vegas 23.

@iEmby Vegas Capture is a standalone app that can function within Vegas. The advantage is the integration, like Soundforge. There are no resources being used unless you are actually using the app.

Some might find it useful, while others, like myself, can't get it to reliably run. I have other alternatives if I need screen capture. I would be nice to have it though for troubleshooting Vegas problems. Someone can record easily without having to download and learn OBS.
