Vegas Capture Not Working

Wes-Micket wrote on 10/27/2022, 8:50 PM

Trying to use Vegas Capture included in Vegas Pro 20, and it is not working.

The application opens, and appears to operate correctly. However, the preview screens for the monitors are blank and no video is captured. The video camera works, and shows in the preview screen, but the images on the monitors do not. I have a Windows 10 system with an Intel i9-9900 CPU, 32GB RAM, and an AMD RX5700 graphics card.

How can I fix this?

Thanks!

@Wes-Micket - Annoying, indeed. Via what route are you connecting your camera to the PC?

I’ve just concluded some very successful VHS > S-Video & PHONOS THRU miniDV Canon XM2 CAM (used as convertor) > PC via F/ W 1392 straight into VP20. I opened VidCap, set the whole shebang rolling and Video monitoring flickered into activity and video was captured.

We need more info from you. Least of which, and if you’re using Firewire, that your FW card is accepting of the FW flow. There was a chipset tweak needed to be done.

My project was converting some 60 year old cine captured on VHS. OLD 60 year old memories for those of my family, that are still alive…. 😔

We know of some major deficiencies with VEGAS Capture working on AMD cards. It is in our backlog to fix, but we currently do not have a resource available to work on this utility.

@VEGASDerek - Is this Screen Capturing?

Thanks for your responses!

Sorry to hear that this is a known problem, but no one is working on it. Hopefully someone can be assigned to fix it soon.

Yes, it is for screen capture. (no external devices connected, just the computer and the monitor.)

If you have Vegas Stream can you try that? If not there are other 3rd party screen capture programs available.

@Wes-Micket - Thanks for your clarification. Y’know, if I can get something wrong, I will. 🙏

Thanks for all your help!

I found that AMD has a screen capture utility that works. That will keep me going until the Vegas folks fix theirs.
