Vegas capturing clips, not individual project folders.

Capturing in Vegas 4.0, I just completed my forth wedding video project and finding it difficult managing multiple project files. When I capture projects that were shot continuously, as a wedding ceremony Vegas creates one project folder not multiple clips listed separately. When you capture wedding preshots, formals, where you have stopped and started the camera Vegas capture sees those as individual clips, making it difficult to manage in your hard drive storage area. Conopus DVStrom gives you an option to seamless capture creating folders with all clips under one name or multiple named folders of one event.
Is this possible in Vegas 4.0, if so how do I do this, if not how do I capture noncontinuous footage to single named folders?

In Capture utility go to tools, preference and look for "auto scene detection"... once you find it, uncheck it.
RTFM

There are several options:

1) turn OFF auto scene detection
2) use Batch capture
3) Don't set the clock in the camera (then scene detection CAN'T work)

As far as capturing to named folders... the capture utility allows you to easily add new folders as the physical capture location. I often do this to split up my captures among different project related drives.

You can also create "virtual capture folders" (a bit like the media bin).

You can then save the capture settings/log for each project you work with allowing you to again manage the captures specific to each of your projects.

Have you tried these features in the capture utility yet?

Options>Preferences>Disk Management. You can also name clips using the tape name box that pops up.

IMO - kind of a pain. I should just be able to name my first clip and then use a "save as" dialogue box to select the folder where I want it whenever I caputure video. Maybe Vegas 5.
