Vegas Colorization plug-in not working after installing latest version

harry-worth wrote on 6/5/2022, 2:42 AM

Vegas Colorization plug-in not working after installing latest version. ( OS - Windows 10 ) Everything was working fine.. It still works in V18 perfectly and DID work perfectly in V19 532. However, just for curiosity i noticed there was a later version of the AI module ( VEGAS_Deep_Learning_Models_19.3.0.0_INT_220420_15-23_BD4BF690 ) so I installed it.

Clicking the Colorization FX does produce two tabs which are not displayed correctly and if I apply it to the BW media and move the FX to the Left of the Pan/Crop, the media is still BW :( . I uninstalled it and installed the earlier version (VEGAS_Deep_Learning_Models_19.0.0.0_INT_210715_12-48_48C70A12) which did work flawlessly and when I click the FX and it open the area is Blank.

I have also Reset Vegas to Default and reinstalled the Early version and still no luck,

I have looked to see if anyone else has had problems and the only thing was that the ( svfx_plugin_cache.bin ) needs to be renamed or deleted. and then restart Vegas but that does not work. I am a bit reluctant to completely uninstall everything and start again. I am assuming that a File has been written somewhere and has not been over written. Any help would be appreciated,, As I said earlier , it all worked perfectly until I installed that latest version. Video driver for my 1060 - 6gb is up-to-date.

Thanks for any input Regards

When I first got Vegas Pro 18, neither of the newly introduced Colorization and Style Transfer VFX worked at all. The result was fairly much what you are now getting - there was no effect applied to the video event. The cause of the problem was that my computer was well below minimum specifications for VP18 - the CPU was an i7-4770 whereas the minimum recommended for VP18 (its the same for VP19 as well) was 6th gen i5 for HD and 7th gen i7 for 4K.

Your computer's GPU does meet the minimum specs (RTX or GTX 9xxx series or above, but does your computer's CPU meet the minimum specs?

Why Colorization works in older builds of the DLMs is curious, unless of course the new AI release is more system critical about the computer's specifications than were the earlier builds. And if your computer does meet the minimum specs, then that deepens the mystery. Just to let you know, Colorization in VP19 b636 / DLM 19.3 works quite okay on my system.

I understand the requirements, but it has worked OK in V19 until I tried the new update which does not work. So I uninstalled it and installed the previous version which always work fine. But now just blank area after a pause..

I understand the requirements

Excellent. But does the CPU meet the minimum specs or not?

It's very helpful for computer specs to be listed in the Signature listing of My Profile so that the question doesn't have to be asked each time that it may be important to a problem.

@harry-worth My system as an ancient i5 CPU but the colourization effect works ok for me. So it's not your specs that's the problem. Try re-installing the deep learning models. EDIT (Oh, I see that you did)

All working again now

The Built-in Uninstall does not seem to clean everything. Looking with an Uninstaller App the V19 AI gets mixed into the Vegas Pro 18 folder for some reason .even though the V18 also works with it own AI But all working now, Will make some note of what i did later.

harry-worth wrote on 6/5/2022, 10:39 AM

Yes it seems the built-in uninstaller misses out a/some critical files.. As you imply, if it worked before then it should work again as clearly it does meet the spec requirements.. Maybe the latest version of the AI has a higher requirement.. Seems something is not quite right...Not heard any reports about it yet..Thanks for your reply .. regards

One other thing Jack S, I decided to do a fresh test on another PC. If I do a fresh install on a test PC and then just add the new AI latest version it does not work.....So the Specs for that version and different from the original. Which version are you using - VEGAS_Deep_Learning_Models_19.3.0.0 or original VEGAS_Deep_Learning_Models_19.0.0.0?

Regards

@harry-worth Hi as soon as i got the update i tried Colorization, simply to see if playback with that added had been improved, i don't think it has, but it does work on my pc, i installed the new Deep learning model with the update,

Just for interest & to get a full picture of your circumstances, as has been asked can you to your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Vegas version, Windows version & system specs, full name of CPU, GPU, & amount of RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments 👍

All working again now

What does it say in the red writing on the thumbnails? mine has always had the eye thumbnail

harry-worth wrote on 6/6/2022, 5:19 AM

Hi GD, Can't actually read the red writing but I think is says that I need to install the AI module which as you can see is installed and working, I assume that the normal thumbnails have not been refreshed,

As I mentioned earlier, the PC also has V18 working fine with AI and if you uninstall the AI with an uninstaller App ( Revo uninstaller ) whilst is remove the Basic part of the AI module ifshows many registry mixed entries in V18.

So I also uninstalled V19 Vegas with Revo and cleaned all the V19 registry to start again.. So a clean install of V19 532,,,, clean install of AI 19.0.0.0,,, and now it work, but for some reason the standard thumbnails are not there. I do not want to uninstall V18 to see if that it what is causing it as that it working fine with AI so I am happy that It works now in V19

Will try and sort out the CPU Specs. I know it is an i5, with a 1060 6GB card and 16GB memory, 2TB x 2 HDD.

Following on from my original problem, I decided to check the " Style Transfer ".as it uses the same facilities so I understand and I get this message,, "InfereneceEngineException{NOT_ALLOCATED]ExecutableNetwork was not initialized."

Does this give a clue as to why things are not working, Anyone else had this message..

Thanks in advance,
