vegas compositing mode

so how to avoid compositing mode effecting the tracks below the intended track?

(like in psd you can just use a filter setting to tell psd not to effect layers below)

Not at VP at the moment, but I'd have thought that if I could make the track a Child to a Parent Track and Comp. that Parent Track then the lower wouldn't be affected by the Comp? But as I say, I'm not at the editing pc.
