what kind of sound card r u running?? some ASIO drivers might give u trouble..
Running MP3/MPG audio on the timeline ( at 44.1), being converted on the fly to 48khz could cause lockups..

I still have SOME issues running badly encoded MP3's on the timeline, but nothign that cant be dealt with

im running ma creative soundblaster Audigy with the ASIO drivers, have used this on my other PC with vegas 6 no problems, will try it without the soundcard and see how i go on, thanks for the tip

well whats really happening is that the mp3 is being converted to pcm.. so from 44.1 mp3, its being converted to 48kh PCM for output... <I THINK... dont quote me on that... > (as that is all that the card supports ... 48k i mean... <everything else, such as this conversion etc is done in software> except the upsampling to 48k)
ive alleviated the problem by working REALLY slowly at the time i put the file on the timeline.. once its drawn the the afk, the problem usually goes away. If however your mp3 is a little corrupted, the n u might also have problems..

Were you able to capture your HD footage ok?

When is it freezing up? What are you in the process of doing when that happens?

Have you defragged lately? That caught me once when I was convinced I had not done much file deleting, etc but actually did have a very fragmented drive....Really helped Vegas work better once defragged. Spyware cleaned up, etc?
