Vegas cookie?

Does anyone know why Vegas would request a connection to the Internet? I recently installed McAfee Personal FireWall on my system... and while on-line (dial-up) and running Vegas, McAfee said it blocked an Internet request made by Vegas. Why did Vegas do this?

There is a setting in Vegas to check for updates.

To be more precise, go to: Options > Preferences... > General tab and UNCHECK Use Net Notify to stay informed about Sony products. I happen to like knowing when a new update is available so I keep this checked but its easy enough to disable.
