What size are your photos, measured in pixels? If you're using photos larger than 2000x1500 for a hi-def project, you may be overloading the program. You also should render your timeline regularly when working with a non-video source.

Also, how much free, defragmented space is on your C drive? You do need a certain amount (usually 20-30 gigs) just so the program can open and function.

Are you editing video that is on your C drive or are you using a second or external drive? If the latter, this drive must also be properly formatted (to NTFS), set up and defragmented in order to function properly. Remember, this type of video work doesn't just need space -- it needs huge chunks of space, so fragmentation, temp files and spyware can choke the work.

Note that by default the program also saves a lot of stuff to your Documents folder, which is also on your C drive. Unless you are directing it to save your files in separate folders or on another drive, that area can also get pretty junked up and even corrupted.

You can also try doing a Save As to save your project as a new name, ideally in a new folder on your system. And make sure you select the option to Manage Files for your project. This will force it to recreate its scratch and render files, which may have corrupted.

Using a photo batch utility, crop and resave all images in 1920x1080. This should stop the crashing.

Most are the photos (scanned slides) are a little bigger in order to have the opportunity to zoom in. Disc C has about 60 GB free. I edit in D which is a partition of the same disc. I will try to follow your suggestions, but why DVD architect was affected with the same problem?
