Vegas Demo Won't Play

I have downloaded the demo version and created a 30 second project (with audio and pictures) but Vegas will not play (the counter won't even play for a second). Please help.

Check your audio settings under tools->options->audio devices and make sure it is going to a valid output. Or start with the simple things, reboot, try again, if no go reload vegas, try again. For the most part if you havent messed around with the defaults, Vegas should play, but check the audio output, that could be it as well.

Have tried all that and demo won't even start to play...I've tried loading images (still jpegs) and the system just won't play anything. Any other ideas??? I run Acid 4.0, Sound Forge Studio, and Adobe Premier 6.0 without a problem. HELP!!

WIN XP; Asus A7V333-X MOBO; AMD XP 2200; 512M 2700 RAM; 2x 40G HDs; Digi 001 Sound card; Digidesign Wave Driver; MSI G2TiVX Pro-VT Graphics card.

As I mentioned in another post, I am running Acid Pro 4.0, CD Architect, Sound Forge Studio 6.0, Pro Tools and Adobe Premier 6.0 without any problems.

Any help is appreciated.
