Vegas doesn't allow left/right quotes?

I'm trying to get the left/right quotes with the Text Generator - I used the charmap program that comes with Windows to copy the right characters to the edit box in the Text Gnerator. The quotes show up as left and right sided in the edit box, but when Vegas draws it in the actual video window, they both just come out as "

The font I'm using obviously does have those characters, since they appear properly in the edit box...

Is there any way to get this to work?

Phil, I think we've done this here on the V Forum. Ermm... do a search - yeah? - Tell you what, hold on, I'm feeling generous . . . . . . .

doh! thanks.. I should have done a search first.
So it's a known bug - no explanation from SF though. Weird bug though, you'd think it would be extra work to turn certain characters into others.

Try this. Open MS WORD. Type "" the way you want them -yeah? Copy Paste from there - if possible - into the Media Edit thingy!!

Oh yeah - while in MS Word you'll need to enter some text between the quotes to force them - the quotes - in the correct direction - forgot to tell you this - doh!

Nope, that was my original point - that doesn't work. Vegas shows the quotes properly in the editbox, but converts them to straight quotes in the preview/render.

Actually, the legacy text generator does it properly.

No explanation and there was no fix in 4.0b. Frustrating.

Hopefully it will be dealt with in 4.0c.

Worst case scenario - lay it out in Photoshop and import the whole screen as an image still. Key out background if necessary.
