I want to start making some DVDs for my widescreen TV that fill the screen. My TV is a 34" xbr910 (screen is around 29.5" x 16.6") and all my source footage is NTSC DV.
I can simply edit 4:3 DV and just use zoom mode on the tv. This crops out the top and bottom and fills the screen. The image looks grainier because of the zoom. The TV has a DRC function that makes it look a bit better.
Is there a way to get better results? (garbage in-HD out) Should I use a different vegas properties template? Any video processing, output FX that would help? I use black bars as guides to the top and bottom to crop the picture to 16:9.
What I really need is an HD camera and more cpu. ;^)
