Vegas Effect and VegasPro16

Richard_C wrote on 11/20/2021, 2:58 AM

New member here. I use VP15 and it's been great (as long as I remember to save my project every now and then lol). 2 questions. Firstly, can I purchase Vegas Effects as a stand alone and work with VP15? If it is not possible, then to my second question, where can I purchase VP16 as an upgrade? I really don't do much heavy effects but would like a decent motion tracking capability that is native to Vegas. Thanks a bunch!

No, VEGAS Effects is sold as part of VEGAS Post Only, which was released after VEGAS 16. For the best motion tracking native to VEGAS, update to 19.

Welcome to the forum

Firstly, can I purchase Vegas Effects as a stand alone and work with VP15?

Unfortunately, no. Vegas Effects only comes with Vegas POST. However, you might like to try HitFilm Express which is free - https://fxhome.com/product/hitfilm-express . Vegas Effects is a cut down version of HitFilm Pro as is HitFilm Express. While Express does not contain all of the effects and functions of HitFilm Pro (or Vegas Effects for that matter), many of the FX can be purchased in small affordable bundles from HitFilm Express' website.

... where can I purchase VP16 as an upgrade?

MAGIX only sells the current version of Vegas Pro which is currently version 19. For Vegas Pro 16, you'll need to look at websites like Amazon, Best Buys, etc to see if they have VP16 available. But be very cautious as there are rip-ff scams selling pirated Vegas Pro versions using cracks or stolen serial numbers which are sold again and again leaving the product unusable. Also, run a mile if it is being sold as Sony Vegas Pro (any version from 14 onwards) because that is a dead set indicator that it is a pirated version.

Thanks for the prompt responses! So basically there won't be an upgrade option for versions lower than 19 available. Good to know. 16 or 17 would be a good option for me. 19 will force me to get a new pc.....sigh

If you can find users looking to sell you a license for 16 or 17 that is possible- you just have to find a trustworthy one who will fully uninstall it and give you their serial.

Well that's an option as well. Actually a good one but you're absolutely right about finding a trustworthy one.
