Your graphics card seems to be under-powered to run the application..... What is your system specifications?

set wrote on 10/3/2020, 6:24 AM

Check for the OFX - possibly not compatible with Vegas Effects.

The Plug-in is located in 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX'

Now, you can move it to temporarily, say to 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX off' ~ This is just an out of made-folder, so you can move it back.

Or, if you wish to only able to use it on Vegas Pro 17 environment, you can move it to 'C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 17.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins'

I have Boris Continuum complete install and because of another issue I did a uninstall and reinstall but it did not correct the issue. Do you think Continuum is causing the issue?

Try temporarily move it out from OFX folder.

Thanks that did work change the file name to OFX off and did some more troubleshooting and it looks like Boris Continuum and NewBlueFX is causing the issue. Is Magix aware of this problem? Or I can not use Continuum and Vegas Effects at the same time?

jetdv wrote on 10/4/2020, 7:20 AM

NewBlue is aware of the problem. Right now, the "solution" is to move the OFX files out of Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins and into the Program Files\Vegas\Vegas Pro 18\OFX Video Plugins folder. Then only Vegas Pro will see them and Vegas Effects will not. However, I believe Magix is also working on getting Vegas Effects where it will work with the plugins installed in the proper place.

Program Files\Vegas\Vegas Pro 18\OFX Video Plugins folder. Then only Vegas Pro will see them and Vegas Effects will not. That is not going to work for me because I am also using Resolve and moving the OFX folder is a no go for me I wouldn't be able to them in Resolve. I guess I will have to enable or disable depending on what editing software I am working with at the time.

Thanks All

This is a rookie question. If I have Vegas Effects do I even need Boris Continuum for Vegas pro 17 and 18?

In the end, only you can decide that because realistically only you know what projects you are doing and how you want them creatively edited.

Nonetheless, have a look at the VFX in Vegas Effects (which I expect would be much the same as those that appear in HitFilm Pro) and compare them to the VFX in BCC. You should find that each package includes some VFX that are similar to each other, but there'll also be quite a lot that aren't replicated in the other company's package.

Also, take into account that the level of control in BCC's FX can be much greater than the HitFilm based FX; but if you're generally using the pre-sets, that may not be an issue. One significant advantage with recent BCC versions is that most FX have access in their controls to Mocha which means that you can mask and track a specific area of the image and thus just apply the FX to the tracked area, or exclude the tracked area from being affected by the FX - a simple Invert Mask checkbox makes this an easy selection. Plus the mask itself can be feathered.

After comparing and considering the VFX in both Vegas Effects and BCC, if you conclude that Vegas Effects provides all the VFX that you need, and consequently you don't see a need for BCC, then you've reached the answer to your question.
