VEGAS Effects will not work or activate

After years living on the high seas (I'm sorry to admit, but it is true), I bought VEGAS Post 365 so I could get updates, AI, text to speech, and the other software included (and to clear my conscience and abandon ship). This now means I get to not only use VEGAS Pro, which works fine (with the usual bugs), but VEGAS Effects etc (hopefully as a replacement to AE since I love VEGAS as an NLE so much).

VEGAS Effects will not activate. I have activated VEGAS itself, tried "edit selected clip in VEGAS effects" and all I get is "An error occured during the current operation. The reason for the error could not be determined. Effects will not open directly and claims it still needs to be activated, despite that I used my post serial to activate VEGAS Pro. Not only that; the latest POST Installer doesn't work properly for me. After downloading each selected program, an error occurs. As a result I had to get the full setup exe installers of all the software from the site.

I also have zero communication channel seemingly available to assist. Please help. Given how much I paid, this is deeply frustrating to encounter.

Activating VEGAS Pro and Effects are different steps. I remember having an issue with it as well- maybe uninstall Pro and try to do Effects first? It's been a few years but I had trouble installing them in a certain order.

The people who haven't helped in question are the devs and the support team, who I have attempted reaching via email, forum and reddit more than four times over said two months, which is why I have reposted it more than once so it appears multiple times, the literal intention.

If you're offended because you're one of them and I put capitals in a subject line, sounds like I did exactly what I went after. If not, then thanks for the name calling and screenshot or whatever.

"just once two months ago" based on the one post and not everything else that has been attempted across multiple platforms is hilarious, maybe take a step to understand you don't have all the information before name calling, yeah?

@RogerS thank you for the response. Unfortunately it would appear that since you had your issues, changes happened where you cannot activate Effects without using Pro. Which is something else that blows my mind. Effects does not even allow you to launch it before that is done.

Did you have a perpetual license for VEGAS before you bought 365? I've seen that create issues before, where you had to deactivate the previous installation to clear the old serial number out of the system, then re-install from scratch using the VEGAS Post 365 serial. Does that help? If not, I'll bring it to the team's attention that you need further assistance and see what they recommend. Please do not continue to break the community rules and make duplicate posts, bumping the one you already have with new posts is sufficient enough for people to see it. It brings it to the top of the forum threads.

This is the first licence I have for the software. I appreciate the bump, that is exactly what I was after since spending weeks looking for help mid projects and spending a fortune for the software and getting no help anywhere.

When you say tried that before did you successfully create a support ticket for this issue?

For me I had to deactivate everything and reinstall to get it to work. Both VEGAS Pro and Effects need to be activated.

Not only did I create one, it was then magically "resolved" silently with no contact made to me whatsoever.

 

I have also tried the clean install even after "deactivating" the machine on the account portal. Still nothing.

I had zero issues installing VP21 Post 365. Zero. @Siyabonga-Hlalethoa has never added anything further to this post as to whether support was able to fix the issue.

Maybe you should contact support too?
