Vegas freezes....

and it's not the ambient temp that's causing it ;)...

OK, this is a brand new experience for me (the freezing that is; Vegas has been working perfectly for over a year now) so I'm not sure whether I should be excited or not!

Anyway, here are some facts....I went on hols for 2.5 weeks leaving my beloved Vegas behind (talk about withdrawal symptons!), came back, captured 2.5 hours worth of tape, started playing around with new project and after about 5 mins the programme freezes: I get the sand-clock but no action until I close the pragramme to get the "programme not responding" type of message...this has happened repeatedly (4 or 5 times) in one hour...

I have not installed any new software (that I'm aware of!), -haven't even updated to 4d so it can't be that either- and have updated and run the anti-virus (no virus detected...), and as a last measure de-fragged all my drives....all of which have at least 9 gigs of space available (70% full in the wrost case). It was working beautifully till I went away: maybe it's Vegas way of telling me that it wanted to come too!

I seem to remember reading somewhere that this had happend to someone else but can't find the thread anywhere...

Anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks!
Paul.

We can assume you don't use a 1394 drive? That's the only thing that's ever caused problems for me.

Does it happen in any project? Playing any clip?

Applied the most recent spate of security patches to windows?

Maybe tried system restore to a checkpoint of 2.5 weeks ago? (That would undo the patches)

Reinstalled Vegas?

Checked for mice and crickets?
