Vegas going whacked. help.

Okay, I have never seen this one before. I installed 8.0b off of a disk. Everything is there but there are no fx, no transitions and no generated media. Huh? So I wanted to got to 8.0c and thought that maybe that would help fix the problem in the mean time.
It did, at first, but now it's all gone again. I am figuring it has something to do with my pc. Like a codec conflict somehow. Or maybe because I am on Windows 7? But I thought it have been proven runnable.

Also, it won't let me register, out of nowhere.

any ideas?

Thanks,

Joshua

For starters, Pro 8 isn't supported under Windows 7, only Pro 9.
Beyond that, I have no idea.

If I were the suspicious kind, I'd would guess we're talking about a piece of software obtained under less than legitimate means.

Yeah.. It could sound like that. but no...

I have a fully legit version. Been registered and verified by Sony....

Clearly seems system related if the 8.0c install was working ok and isn't now.. Something changed in your system.
Can you go back to a Windows 7 restore point?

pretty sure he can't post here if he's not legit, since you have to register with a valid key in order to have a user account. Though it could have been a registration of VMS or something and an illegitimate Vegas ownership, but for the most part, everyone here is legit.

The way these forums force you to buy in order to post, it pretty much stays that way :).

yeah I am totally legit. I won't be here looking for help if I wasn't. I would know my problem was that..

so let's move on. Does anyone else report problems with 8.1? I feel that maybe that is my problem... I should move back to 64bit. But I was told 8.1 was a nightmare.. any thoughts?

I'm not sure exactly what your problem is now? .. Registration of the software or some kind of corrupt install? What exactly is going on? Can you do a clean install and then not register? What error messages do you get?

okay.. I downloaded 8.0c from Sony's site. Installed it. Tried to register.. said, " sorry the server was unable to complete the registration as requested." That's it. No number or nothing. I went to the help logs on the site and tried all the stuff (deleting the cookie registry file and all).. didn't help.

Vegas loads as a 30 trial.. in each area listed it just says "no plugins were found, please reinstall this product to correct this problem". I did, it doesn't.

So right now I am thinking it is becuase,
a. I have windows 7 64 bit.. so I should go back to 8.1

b. do a clean uninstall and try again because the remnants of the other two versions are probably screwing me up. How do I do a clean uninstall??

Thanks again guys.

take care,

Joshua
