Vegas Info

I recently saw a demonstration of Vegas at a users group & was intriqued by how smooth & easy it looked.
I am currently editing on Premiere 6.5 w/ a Pinnacle dv500 capture board. I have windows xp operating system. I have been frustrated with my programs for quite awhile. It seems I fix one problem & find two more.

I would like to know if Vegas is compatible with the pinnacle DV500 capture board. I currently have my external monitor, etc attached to the dv500 and I am not sure how to work around that.

Please help.
Thank you

Very common questions.

You really didn't ask #1, but what the heck...

1. Vegas does NOT support any kind of hardware based rendering.

2. Vegas feeds REAL TIME DV through a firewire so that's the preferred method to bring in or send out DV video.

To get #2 to work you need a camera that supports pass through and firewire or connect between your camera and computer with a A/D converter like the Canopus models.

To avoid hair pulling and much grief the firewire card MUST be 100% IEEE 1394 compliant. Generally the cheap firewire cards work best. They shouldn't cost more than $30-50 tops. While many newer motherboard may have firewire build-in, they may or may not work correctly depending on ir or not they FULLY meet the specs.
