Vegas is causing video/audio lag with Kodak Zi8

I have tested this with Pinnacle Studio 12 and the problem does not happen, only when I use Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0

I am using a Kodak Zi8 camera to record my footage, however when I import my videos into Vegas there is a problem where it shifts the audio and video out of sync. At the end of my videos it creates approx. 2 seconds of a still frame of the very last frame in the video, making it appear like the video froze but the audio was still going, and at the start of the video there is approx 2 seconds of no audio whasoever, so when you mix the two together it makes my video and audio out of sync.

Its fixable if I go in and manually edit the video and audio tracks down and align them, but honestly I should not have to do this and it will take a lot of time with the style in which I make my videos (frequent importing clips). I also have a Flip HD and have no such problems.

Incase it matters I have filmed in 720p 60 fps and 720p 30fps and both present the same problem. Any idea what may be causing this?

I did a zi8 search and unfortunately you're not alone:

A couple fixes are mentioned and that VMS 10 works better with your files.

Thanks for the response. I tried converting one of the files to .mp4 using the zi8's software program, and used that instead and there seemed to be no sync issues, however that is yet one more extra step I really do not want to have to take with each video I want to import....as mentioned in those topics it is possible to ungroup the audio from the video and slide them down 2 seconds to sync the audio, but this can become a pain when dealing with many imported files.
I tried to find where it said VMS10 would work, but was unable to find that. I really do not want to have to purchase 10.0 so soon being as I have only just recently purchased 9.0 no too long ago.

You easiest solution would be to batch-transcode the files with SUPER or Mpeg Streamclip.

The 2 second audio offset does not affect everyone with these cameras, and the workaround is rather simple (this has been tested):

I have tested zi8 files with VMS10 and and problem is indeed fixed.
