Vegas keeps crashing - External Monitor Problem?

Hey gang, I just picked up a small tv today to use as a monitor. I ran the firewire from my computer (New Sony Vaio) to a Canon minidv cam. From that cam I ran the AV cord to the inputs on the small tv (L/R Audio and Video). The first time I pulled up a project and watched it on the tv everything worked fine. Now it seems that everytime I try to watch a project on the tv...Vegas crashes. I'm wondering if there is a certain procedure that I'm supposed to follow in regards to hooking up the cam to the computer - turning the cam on - turning the tv on - etc. Does it matter if I plug the minidv cam into the computer before launching Vegas? Should the minidv power be turned on before or after launching Vegas? I'm not sure what should be turned on first - or if it even matters? But for some reason I can't get this to work now without my Vegas crashing :(

I would assume the cam needs to be on prior to vegas starting so the device is detected. I'm sure some others will be able to give you experienced advice. though.

I would reboot - turn cam on - wait for detect - start vegas.

Sequence/order of booting/cam on/off shouldn't make any difference at all. It might well be your filrewire card is sharing resources. Check your system, look at IRQ's. Worst case is that the sound card and firewire are sharing, along with a third resource, and that should be repairable by either assigning a new IRQ or moving a card.

What is an "IRQ"?
