I'm at the point where unfortunately I'm going to have to look at other apps to workaround the Vegas's limitations (midi, VSTi's, etc). I'm curious how you are using Sonar in this way - would you please elaborate a bit on what your workflow is like with Vegas/Sonar?

Thanks,

Good question...I want to know also if Sonar is working well! (vs Vegas)

I've been using Sonar for some time and currently use the Producer version. I really like the midi/DXI-implementation in Sonar.
However I still come back to Vegas when it's time to mix, assign effects and doing fades/splits etc on the audio tracks. Vegas lets me work intuitively much faster and with more control. Likewise Acid is still the best regarding loops although Sonar's handling of loops have improved. Earlier I hoped that midi/DXI/VST-implementation in Acid/Vegas would leave Sonar on the shelf, but I don't think it will in the foreseeable future anyway. Sony has a long way to go in the midi department to make this work as well as the audio GUI already does in Acid/Vegas. In my view the audio handling in Sonar is still a bit clunky compared to Vegas' and the midi in Acid is rudimentary compared to Sonar's. I use the strengths in my different apps and have learned to take that extra time to render/export tracks for the other apps.
Hope this helps a bit.

Hey drbam...

At one point it was the lack of fx automation. But for the most part its the midi features that my partner uses the most. We bounce stuff between each others Daw's. Open a session of his here at my place and I'm ready to add my touch to it.

At another point it was a stability issue. I had fewer problems with sonar. Sonar has always been my "backup" after a few V4 updates. I'm not much of a midi person. To be honest I've always loved mixing in vegas over anything else[with a few minor annoyances]. I would see how its arranged in sonar and just recreate it in vegas and go forward from there.

My wish is to have the midi and vsti features updated in acid and have it "rewired" to vegas.

HTH.
