Okay dokey! - We ARE gonna meet this Sunday. So between 10:30am and 2:30pm BST [ or later - this will be up to Max] we will be at it! - Oh BST means British Summer Time = GMT + 1 hour - Don't ask, it's a British thing!

We could use this Forum to communicate ideas, input from those not able to come and maybe find neat ideas and solutions - no promises eh!

Waddya FInk?

Regards

<<Oh BST means British Summer Time = GMT + 1 hour - Don't ask, it's a British thing!>>

It began (just after WW1) as a way to save on the cost of electricity while keeping the workers' long hours (which were cheap). It is observed in most parts of the world - but not everywhere. It may have been a British idea originally.

I imagine that the further from the equator you live, the more obvious the daylight saving benefits become, because you live so much of the year in semi-darkness. Of course you don't get more or less daylight by turning the clock, it only shifts the time when you have to do what you have to do.
By mid-summer it makes no difference though, because then it hardly gets dark at all.

For camera people (you thought I was off topic, didn't you?) DST means a bonus of an F-stop or two in the afternoon.

Yes - And I think there was also - as a result of the war effort, WW2, DOUBLE summer time!

" . . . . (you thought I was off topic, didn't you?)" - at the moment, I don't think I am either . . . . hmmmm......
