I know a couple of people who say that you can only truly color correct in Resolve and one or two other programs and basically if you color correct in an NLE, you are some kind of loser. But I have to say, after doing some tests, I don't believe that's true any longer. Certainly Resolve has some great features and was originally designed for color correction, but I'm glad to see that Vegas really seems to be making some strides now and I hope they continue to do so.
Just for fun, I tried color correcting the same footage, one in Resolve and one in Vegas. And I could not see any difference between the imagery. The first basic step was applying a LUT, and there were other adjustments to make as well (not pictured), but honestly, I don't think anyone could tell if you graded something in Resolve versus Vegas. I have always loved the Vegas interface and its stability, and I hope it continues to gain ground.
Left side was "graded" in Resolve, right side in Vegas.
Just to confirm Resolve on the left and Vegas on the right.
