Vegas Markers Won't Save in Trimmer

Alexandra-Jobe wrote on 3/31/2025, 5:15 PM

Hello. I recently purchased Vegas Pro 22 and I am having trouble saving my markers in the trimmer window. I have been editing with Vegas for a while and with the previous versions, there is an option to hit save after you place a marker in trimmer so when you close Vegas, the markers will still be there when you reopen the file later. I see the option, but when I go to click save, the button is grayed out. I am attaching an image of the issue. I need to be able to save my markers so that I can reopen the files at a later date with the same markers in place.

Some more information:
Device Information:
- Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit
- 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1335U

@Alexandra-Jobe Hi, for me

  • That option works with .mov files & markers are saved.
  • It is available for mp4 hevc but doesn't work, the markers are not saved.
  • & mp4 avc it is greyed out like yours.

---------

Interestingly, the hevc that I tried to save markers on - at the bottom of the trimmer window the bar where the markers should be gets bigger but the markers don't show, if I right click Delete markers is an option, deleting the non existent markers reduces that bar to it's default size like when there are no markers added.

Right now it works with some files and doesn't work with some files. It all depends on the file format. But this is also a known issue which will, hopefully, be fixed in the future.

I found it worked with a mov file, but no other types I tried or normally use. MXF is our primary type and it doesn't work. Now on Build 250, Windows 11. I'm pretty sure it works though on Windows 10.

Because it doesn't work, we have continued to use Vegas Pro 19.

Is there no solution to the marker problem - markers in trimmer window not saving?? (Vegas 22 and perhaps higher)

@Blaine-WItherow Have you tried in VEGAS Pro 23?

Blaine-WItherow wrote on 1/30/2026, 10:50 AM

No. We invested in a number of Vegas Pro 22 licenses and depend upon this neat feature in projects to mark and save trimmer markers with original footage. We can use other products if Magix is not able to fix this. I already invested unwisely, so have not dared to invest in Vegas 23. I don't know if they allow free trial versions for limited time or not.

I guess it does have trial versions. I have not heard this feature being fixed. Can anyone comment whether this works in Vegas Pro 23?

@Blaine-WItherow, I could test it but would need one of your file types to check it with. Not sure I have files of the same types as you.

Blaine-WItherow wrote on 1/30/2026, 1:49 PM

You can easily make a test file yourself, Sony MXF > HD422 1920x1080 60i 50Mbps..I'd sure like to know if it works.

Ok I rendered a file to HDCAM SR 422 1080-50i (VP23 doesn't seem to have the name you listed) to an MXF file. Markers saved fine for me. I am still using the withdrawn build 356, though.

Blaine-WItherow wrote on 1/30/2026, 3:42 PM

Okay. Really good to know. I'll have to test out the trial version. Lots of different MXF. The one I mentioned is in the list just above the one you used, but similar. Thanks.
