Vegas mentioned on DL.TV

Thought I would mention that Vegas was mentioned on a recent episode of DL.TV. Kind of unfavorably I might mention.

http://dl.tv/2007/10/episode_199_another_guest_host.php

Morgan Web (from Xplay on G4) was doing a video web blog tutorial and mentioned that she tried Vegas but didn't like it because no one used it and she had no one to ask questions to. That was a little disappointing.

Then she blurred the versions slightly calling it Vegas when she really meant Vegas Movie Studio.

Oh well.

It's been so long that I don't remember how I heard about this forum, which is imho on of the absolutely best reasons to buy Vegas.

It really should be mentioned prominently in every box and with every download!

I used this site and a couple of others to decide what NLE to buy. Of course you do have to be able and willing to read.

Absolutly! This forum is great, the tone is generally great, and all levels of users can come. When you start using a new NLE like I did with Vegas some time ago now, I think it is of the greatest value to have a community like this.

The piece starts @ the 10minute mark.

She obviously has NOOOO Idea what she's doing. She also says, "She has No Idea." Her entire workflow CAN be accomplished in Vegas... from Beginning to End!

She goes out to Motion from FCP for composites... what tha? Oh yeah... she's using FCP so she has no choice.

She's soooo pointing people down the wrong (expensive) path.

This is a prime example of The Blind leading The Blind.

I don't think even she is that stupid ( you can get brain damage just listening to those 60 seconds where she starts talking about Vegas and FCP )

Most likely a paid infomercial by Apple, posing as whatever it's supposed to be. It's done all the time.

As for the workflow demonstrated , an alzheimers patient can learn to do that in any NLE, probably in less than 1/2 an hour, without any help,, as long as they can read and click on help to open help files.

Final cut is so fast and easy, you simply export aif, open it in another program (learn how to use that program), tweak it, then bring it back to final cut, then render your video.

In Vegas you would have to figure out how to add an eq and compressor to your audio track, then tweak it... oh wait... the default setup already has eq and compression on every track. Too bad she didn't try clicking that little green square ;)

If she had only spent 5 minutes in google to find a good vegas forum, then spent an hour on one of the vegas forums she most likely would have learned that Vegas movie maker was all she needed.

So $3500 later she has a sexy new computer and lots of snob appeal. I think that suits her lifestyle better anyway.

Well, I have been using Vegas since version 4. Currently on Pro 8a. People ask what I edit on, and I say Sony Vegas. Nobody has said that's bad, as nowadays they have heard of it, just usually a little surprised. When it comes to Mac vs PC, I say I have to much invested in PC to change - which is true.

Frankly, I am not ashamed to say that I edit in Vegas. If people don't like it, then it is their problem - I really don't give a F%*@.

Welcome to the "Club," Thommes!

This forum beats others by having helpful people here usually around the clock from every continent except Antarctica (anyone here from Antarctica we don't know about? :O).

Reason? Perhaps because Vegas gives you more freedom than other NLEs. There are so many ways to do things, and half of them are waiting for somebody creative to discover them.

Other NLEs usually have more of a hardwired workflow, as in "this is how you do this."
