I have VV 3.0c and I render videos using ligos indeo 4.5 for distribution with multimedia courses. Right now I am editing a number of previously made videos to remove content that is no longer valid. However, when I set both VV and the codec to the best quality with the slider on 100%, I get seriously degraded video, with high pixellation and frame dropping. I can improve the quality by specifying a data rate in the data rate field, but the size increases immensely.
The clincher is that I can render the video uncompressed in VV, then take the uncompressed video and rerender it using Sound Forge 4.5, and it works beautifully. (I do not set a data rate and get great results)
Does anyone know what changed in the renderers between Sound Forge 4.5 and VV? Or does Sound Forge arbitrarily set a data rate? Either way, I am unable to get as good video quality for the same amount of space in VV as I am in Sound Forge.
