VEGAS MOVIE STUDIO HD PLATINUM 11 WILL NOT OPEN!!

Ok so i got Vegas movie studio HD Platinum 11. Whenever i open it, the color scheme on my computer changes and makes my computer look like its from the early 1990s, vegas then hangs on "initializing external monitoring".

Info on my computer:
64 bit
really advanced graphics + amazing graphics card

It is really important that i get this to work,

Have you manually gone to the ATI or nVidia web sites (whichever your card is) and downloaded the most up to date drivers for your graphics card?

Have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have even the non-critical updates (which are not downloaded automatically)?

Do you have more than one monitor attached to your computer or are you using a TV as your monitor or doing anything else non-traditionally?
