I Just downloaded the above trial software because Sony told me this would be the one to use for converting MPEG4 to DVD format and then burn to DVD. I have not had much luck so far. I wanted to burn a file to DVD and got an error message that architectd is not installed. Do I have to get that software too? would get kind of costly.

So can someone tell me exactly what I must do to convert MPEG4 files to DVD files and then burn them to disc? I would really appreciate it.

Vegas Movie Studio and DVD Architect Studio are sold bundled together -- so when you buy VMS, the price includes DVDAS. But they are, indeed, separate programs / downloads.

The trial of DVDAS is on the same page you downloaded VMS.

As for it being costly, heh, guess you haven't taken a look at VMS's big brother, the Vegas+DVD Production Suite. ;-)
