Vegas MS 6.0b crashes when working with MP4

I have Vegas MS Platinum v6.0b. Everytime I try to use an MPEG-4 file the program gives me and error message and shuts down. I'm also running Vista. The first few lines of the error message is as follows:

Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 6.0
Version 6.0b (Build 126)
Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) READ:0x1C IP:0x66869BC7
In Module 'QuickTime.qts' at Address 0x66800000 + 0x69BC7
Thread: GUI ID=0x12F4 Stack=0x12A000-0x130000

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

This says to me that it's a problem in Quicktime, not VMS. Are you running a version of QT that's supported on Vista? And you do understand that VMS is not supported on Vista?
