Vegas not saving Veg file

Since a recent file corruption on the PC i have re-installed a previous back up.

i am now finding that if I try and save a file on any other drive (or network) then the drive Vegas is installed on ( C:\ ) I get the saving project up to 100% and it hangs there. This happens on V7, V8 & 9 (installed hoping it would cure it).

Once i get the above when try and load another file from the same external drive I get file not found. It seems the drive is looked or Vegas is waiting for something as if I press the little x to close the program, it says it is busy and are you sure you want to close, If I say Yes nothing happens. If I go into Task Manager and try closing it there, the program appears to close but the program is still running in Task Manager.

I have tried to repair the files in windows as I thin it is located there some where.

Shutting down XP then takes ages as tries to close them it self.

On the odd occasion I can save but after a minute or so the problem re-appears.

Other programs are happy to work across the drives.

any pointers or clues would be help, otherwise another Sunday wasted. !!!!

Just my 2 cents: have you tried to ControlPanel + ComputerManagement + Storage + DiskManagement(Local) and right click on all partitions and select Proterties + Tools and then Error-checking ?

In earlier versions of Vegas, I had a problem where the render or encoding would stop at 99 %or 100% and stay there forever. I corrected it by removing all unused media from the media pool (The lightning bolt icon).

I suspect that my problem was that the .veg file still references every piece of media in the media pool, but if I have deleted the file from the disk, Vegas will hang.

I haven't tested my theory because my workflow always includes the purge of unused media.

Tried the error checking, no difference

Tried the media, but same problem even if using media generators.

also tried to fix corrupt windows file with the scannow

Looked in Services and tried them and found one that failed to load with error 126, hunted about found this info

Description:
List of computers on the network is not updated. The following error messages may appear when you attempt to start the Computer Service manually:

Could not start the Computer Browser service on Local Computer
Error 126: The specified module could not be found.

Or

Could not start the Computer Browser service on Local Computer
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

Or

Could not start the Computer Browser service on Local Computer.
Error 1058: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled service associated with it.

Causes:
This problem may occur if any or all of the following conditions are true:

A. Computer Browser service is disabled in the current hardware profile.
B. The dependency services are stopped – Server service, Workstation service
C. Incorrect registry entry.
D. Corrupt or missing files.
1. svchost.exe – located in %systemroot%\system32
2. browser.dll – located in %systemroot%\system32

not 1005 sure it is that,as i only manged to copy the SYS file and not the DLL.

bu on re-boot and now 10 minutes latter Vegas is now saving any where I want it to,

no to load the rest of the stuff back.

Forgot to mention also used Advance System care (free) as mentioned on this site somewhere, could have been that.

back as it was, must be something else starting up after period of time and causing it
