Vegas not trimming m2t in "copy media w project"

I am editing mt2 files. If I save my project using the "copy media with project option" and choose the "create trimmed copies of source media" option, the mt2 clip is NOT trimmed but the entire length is copied to my destination folder. I have confirmed this behavior with a test on another mt2 clip. I am using 8b.

Is this a bug, something that necessarily follows from using m2t, or user error?

Not a bug. This feature is not supported for GOP based video.

Remember that while Vegas does smart render the video portion of m2t clips, it cannot do this with the audio. If Vegas could trim the clips on this sort of file, it would be adding an audio generation of decode and encode in the process.
