DOn't know anything specific about your situation, but it is a very geriatric version you are using, and DX has been upgraded zillions of times since it's release. I would seriously consider upgrading to something more recnet(vegas, and MS DX).

I do own ACID 4.0, and have the latest DX. I've never updated Vegas because I don't do video work, and didn't see the need. I stay up to date on Sound Forge and ACID though. For this project, my plan was to use the Vegas 1.0 for mixing (and additional overdubs when necessary), then Sound Forge for the final steps (except for mastering -- that will go out of house). The tracks are all being recorded in an entirely different studio on a ProTools machine and being burned to CD-R. I suppose I'd be better off just to use my ACID 4.0 for the mixing. Since this would give me automation control over the same plug-in's that I'd want to use in Vegas anyway.

Actually it's been a long time since I've used v1.0b, but I was kinda confused by your question. You asked about when you inserted an assignable FX into a track? I believe track inserts weren't in Vegas until v2.0. Maybe I'm wrong....it's been awhile. Isn't it only possible to insert assignable effects into an FX's buss in 1.0b?

I think you are right. When I "insert" an "assignable FX," I get a new set of sliders (i.e. FX1, FX2, etc). I suppose it is setting up a new buss, to which I would assign that track.
