Vegas Pro 12 stable except...

TeetimeNC wrote on 6/27/2013, 9:27 AM
I am finishing up my first project with VP12 586. I am running a GTX 550ti with the 296.10 driver. Vegas was quite stable throughout the project except that EVERY time I shut Vegas down I would get a "Vegas has stopped working" dialog from Windows 7 about 10 seconds after Vegas closes. This is an annoyance, but not a deal breaker because Vegas itself knows it closed the project because it reloads it upon start up.

Any suggestions or removing this annoyance?

Check the temporary folders that Vegas needs and make sure they are empty once Vegas is closed. It could also be a memory timing issue.

I too get the same error message as Jerry (TeeTime) on two different systems (desktop and laptop) with different ATI graphics cards, so I think it is not likely to be a memory timing issue.

I will delete the temporary files to see if that makes any difference.

Same here but a bit different. I Shut down V12, wait, restart, & when I check the task manager there are two instances of V12 running even though I closed the first one.

However, I observe that V12 keeps running usually in the task manager when a Magic Bullet plug has been applied to a clip. MB keeps running in the task manger until the 1st instance of V12 is closed from the task manager. Then it closes.

I also have the undo bug where Vegas crashes with undo always near the end of the project.

Ok, I deleted all files and folders in the Vegas temp folder. I rebooted and restarted Vegas. It took Vegas about 5 minutes to go through its initialization. Typical is about 10-15 seconds - I assume this was because no temp files to speed the initialization. I then shut Vegas down and 20 seconds later received the "Vegas Pro has stopped working" message.

I restarted Vegas again. This time it was up in 10 seconds. Same result when I shut it down - the message appeared 20 seconds later. I then followed the prompts to send information to Microsoft and inspected the file that is supposed to help describe the problem and it has only this line in it: "DefaultDataCollection failed: 0x8007001f"

Paddy, if you are listening is this a known problem?

Lovelight, I get something similar but the second instance that looks like Vegas is actually Microsoft's error reporting service. It appears 20 seconds after Vegas closes. Right click on yours and select the process and see if it is dw20.exe instead of Vegas120.exe.
