Vegas Pro 13 - Audio Randomly Drops

Hi!

I recently upgraded from Movie Studio 13 to Vegas Pro 13. I've made a short outro and intro with no issues whatsoever. The program starts up fine but after a few minutes of attempting to edit, it begins to lag/freeze momentarily when pressing play or pause and then parts of the audio will drop for 5-10 seconds at random while the video continues to play.

Also the audio will sometimes come back at the part where it dropped, but then another part of the video will have dropped audio. I record my footage with an Elgato Capture Card, when I go back and watch the recording there, it's flawless.

I've searched quite a bit, but can't seem to find someone with a similar issue. I've tried suggestions that have worked for others like restarting my pc, resetting the program, turning off GPU acceleration, disabled "enable track buffering", tinkered with the audio properties, & made sure any other apps were closed while using pro 13, but no dice.

I'm definitely new to this program, I'm hoping this issue can be easily resolved. Any and all suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks. :)

Does this happen with all files or just certain formats?

Hmm, I've only discovered it on MPEG-4 audio format. Do you think it could just be the format?

I get something simialr with any added VST plugin. Does yours do it without plugins active ?

Well, I seem to have fixed the issue. I changed my live comm. audio file format from m4a to wav and have had no issues with lag or randomly dropped audio. Wow, a simple solution as suspected. Oh, well. It's fixed now. :)

Hey Geoff,

I never noticed the break in audio with plugins. I had the lag and dropped audio with just my recorded live comm. audio from Elgato alone, even before adding anything. I think my issue was mainly the file it was saved as. I've solved it by changing the file type from mpeg-4 to wav and have had no issues so far. Hopefully there won't be anymore issues any time soon.

Thanks!
