Upgraded to Vegas Pro 14 Suite and so far I am not pleased.
1.- The Render As selection is now limited and does not allow me to render to MainConcept selections. It only renders to Sony .mxf.
2.- Vegas Text now does not now select Script, it defaults to Verdana.
3.- Text border does not work either.
4.- Text selection does not pick up other text fonts previously loaded.
I wonder what else is not working in this "upgrade".
Weird issue...
The Render As should showing a lot of options..., so does the vegas text issue.
Can you try uninstall and reinstall again?

The Render As window shows a lot of selections. But selecting MainConcept MPEG-2, for instance, the Render button is grayed out. The Sony mxf is not grayed out.
Similarly with Text. Many selections but a lot do not work.
My previous version worked perfectly......

After you select the MainConcept MPEG-2 are you also selecting one of the templates? It will not give an option to render until you select a template.

I'm not. Plenty of MainConcept Templates. Some Vegas and many of my home-cooked ones too. Make sure haven't activated a Filtering control!
To get that LIVE Render button you do, of course, need to select a Template. Had you tried that?

I've never had SCRIPT as Default. Not bothered.

Well, keep testing and do report what you've found. Personally, with VP15 soon being made available, this Update of VP14 could very well be the last - I wouldn't hold your breath on further dev on VP14. But do do report it.

Do you see 3 Main Concept choices, with little arrows next to them? Each of them is a header, with multiple templates underneath. Click on the little arrow and select one of the templates.

After using several versions of Vegas Pro the Vegas Pro 14 GUI threw me off and as you well pointed out, I was not opening the template selection correctly. After opening the templates for MainConcepts AND selecting the appropiate one, RENDER button was activated and all was well.
As to the Text Outline, i had not been aggresive enough. Selecting a large number or maximum, the outline showed up properly.
As to the text font selection, there is a large selection list on the editing window. Selecting Arizona - Regular, for example, the proper font shows in the text in the editing window but it does not show in the main window and neither does it render as wanted. It defaults to Verdana or similar.

Yup, we've previously been onto SONY and now MAGIX about this. The issues started to appear in one of the VP12 Builds and hasn't been addressed, I doubt it ever will.
Glad to confirm that I was not alone in bemoaning the loss of legacy text font selection in VP14.
On the other hand, now that I have activated NewBlue Fx and BCC FX within VP14, the font selection is large and they work quite well, plus the mods that can be done seem limitless. Great addition to the Suite so far.
