Vegas pro 15 crashes 'VEGAS Pro has stopped working'

Svij wrote on 11/3/2017, 2:36 PM

I have just bought Vegas pro 15 software (VEGAS Pro) today and come across an issue while using any of the HITFILM effects. Moment I click on a HITFILM effect (eg : -HITFILM Light flares) a message popup 'VEGAS Pro has stopped working' . All the other effects are fine only issue is HITFILM effects. I have uninstalled hitfilm and reinstalled again but not resolved the problem.I have same issue while using the trial version before. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you offline when this occurs or connected to the internet? Are you using a standard windows account or an admin account? If standard it may help to raise the account status to admin when registering the hitfilm plugins. Are they the 2017 ignite plug-ins or an earlier set?

I was connected to internet. I was using standard windows account. Sure will raise the account status to admin and try to install again.I am not sure about 2017 ignite plug-ins or not. I bought Vegas pro only yesterday and Hitfilm was part of that deal and download link provided.

I think if they are the ignite plugins they will be named as such in the Video FX tab. Let us know how you get on by raising the account status to admin. That has worked for me in the past with other software. But remember to put it back afterwards as being connected to the internet as admin is an increased security risk. What message do you get when installing the hitfilm plugins and do you have an option to unregister them in your windows start menu? I have that with the ignite set.

IDK, but I don't think HitFIlm is ready for Prime Time. I had an issue with HF and it would simply not run on a machine that was more than capable of running it. I tried to work with FX Home support but after trying all their suggestions, they just threw their hands up in the air and suggested it was an issue related to my machine. But the problem was every other software program I have, including Adobe CS6 products, Vegas, and many others, ran perfectly fine. I've never had a software program just not work and then have support just give up.

Any way, the only suggestion I have is to make sure all your graphic drivers are up to date. Also, when you install HF be sure to install and run it as the administrator. HF apparently has some issues in that regard.

The other option is to apply the effect in HF, then render out as a .png sequence into Vegas. I do that a lot with clips where I need a special effect applied.

Good luck!

I have uninstalled Hitfilm movie essentials pack and reinstalled it again as admin. Still no joy. Is it an issue with windows 10 or hitfilm movie essentials ? Should I try reinstalling windows ? My other option is to try upgrading graphic drivers. Currently have intel internal 1632 MB. I have bought Vegas pro only 2 days back so not sure what exactly to be done. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am not sure if this is the same problem that you are having.
I made a video on youtube called "Vegas Pro 15 crashes, freezes and lags"

Let me know.
Thank you

I was getting crashes like crazy when adding any BlueFX plug ins until I followed someones advice to turn off GPU acceleration. Turned it off, no crashes since.
Options - preferences - video - GPU acceleration - off.

Hi LpMike75,

Thank you for your reply, that sadly did not work for me.

All the best

My GPU Acceleration was already set to Off and it still crashes. What gives?

Did you ever resolve this? The only time I use HF is when I want to composite a special effect. And when I do, I render it out of HF as a .png sequence, then bring that into Vegas, create the clip, apply whatever I need, then render that clip out in the highest quality, usually AVC Intra, then insert that in with my other footage. I am hesitant to use HF in any other capacity as a plug-in.

I Disabled my Geforce GTX 1070 graphics card in the Device Manager. I didn't have to do this before. So when I'm done using Vegas Pro 14, I have to Enable the graphics card again so I'm able to render my project. Sucks.

My display driver has been crashing regardless of whether I use my GTX 1080 or microsofts basic display driver. This was not an issue unill the latest windows update. Ill be in the middle of cutting clips and my screen just goes black and vegas crashes and the display adapter will reset.

Whatever driver you were using b4 the update, ms overwrote it. I keep a copy of my driver in a folder. That way I just reinstall. Or, you can use device manager to roll back the driver…

Update! Finally figured out why my display driver was crashing. Apparently Vegas Pro doesn't play nice when you have the system page file turned OFF. It needs to be on. Havent had 1 crash since!
