Vegas Pro 15 mp3 problem

michael-cookson wrote on 2/8/2018, 3:06 PM

I have installed VP 15 Pro suite on my laptop and all is fine using it on there, I then installed it on my desktop pc, along with the complete suite of software. The problem is on my desktop pc when I try to use a mp3 file on the time line, it loads ok but the sound is just a high pitched squeal.

If I try to render the audio there is no option in the render as box to render any mp3 Audio files. When the files load VP does not build any audio skf files, they seem to be blank.

The same files work perfectly in VP version 13. I have checked the plug in directory and all the mp3 codecs are there, I have completely uninstalled the program and clean the registry out of any left overs but I still can not get VP 15 Pro on my desktop to work with mp3 files.

I am running Windows 10 Pro with Nvidea Card with 32 gig ram I7 quad core processor.

I have another desktop pc that I tried loading VP 15 Pro on and it loaded fine and all mp3 files show up ok.

Was your PC online the moment you tried to import and render MP3?

Which build of VP15 do you use?

Hi Marco yes it was and I also turned off the firewall to see if that did it, I am on the latest version 261

I cant import any mp3 files in to the timeline as it just refuses to load them, I have been through all the folders to check if I have admin access and all are ok, anybody any other ideas on what to check?.

Did you start Vegas Pro 15 as admin on that certain PC? If so, try to start not as admin.

Hi Marco I tried your suggestion and logged in with another account and it works fine, I then thought it had to be an access issue as your post was suggesting, I then went in to my account another way that shows the user access rights, although I had set it up as admin, the users account was set to standard account.

I then tried it again but still no good, so I thought I would uninstall it and do a full clean and re-install. I did this and now my account works as it should with mp3 files showing and playing correctly.

This is the way I went into my account

Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the run command, type netplwiz, and press Enter.

Select the user account and click the Properties button.

Click the Group Membership tab.

Choose the account type: Standard User or Administrator. ...

Click OK.

Many thanks for your help Mick

Strange - I have the same issue. It only affects MSP (build 146). The mp3 files play in Sound Forge 12 and all other apps. It makes no difference if I start MSP in Admin mode or not. I have not tried reinstalling.

Interestingly, the Peaks SoundWave view in MSP also shows it totally maxing out (a white-ish band instead of a nice waveform).

HELP!!
