VEGAS Pro 15 vs. Steam edition

Hi.

I have a couple of questions regarding Magix VEGAS PRO 15. I hope its okay to ask here...

what are the differences between the VEGAS Pro 15 you can on the official website and the one you can buy off Steam?

Is it possible to add new effects/add-ons (HitFilm, Mocha ect.) to the steam version?

This is a screenshot of vegas 15 steam - https://i.imgur.com/b3sZ50p.png - It looks minimalistic compared to SONY VEGAS 12 that I have worked in before. Is this a new thing or is the Steam version a shaved one?

I would LOVE to have a full blown VEGAS in my steam lib and I will buy in a sec if it is as powerful as regular VEGAS

Have a nice day out there!

Both versions and features are similar..., however there is a limitation of Steam edition, which you can only run one instances of Vegas Pro (so it's difficult to copy-paste from different projects), and according to this post, you cannot drag & drop files onto the media bin or timeline, they have to be imported manually, but the plus according to him is very portable.

The screenshot is true - the default interface is very simple - but you can adjust it like you are used to do.

While this is not going to answer your question specifically, you might want to look at the background to Steam, such as on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_(software) amongst others.

Though it seems that Steam's focus is gaming, keep in mind that it seems that Magix has allowed licensing to Steam, perhaps with conditions.

Personally, when I buy software, I prefer to buy it from the owner company rather than a reseller (which I tentatively did do once but it did lead me into the wonderful world of Boris plug-ins).
