Vegas Pro 16 - Constant Random Crashing/Lockup

Not sure what is happening but I am experiencing constant random program freeze simply by moving my mouse to another section or event on time line.... or clicking on a section in the Trimmer. Very random. Sometimes I work hours and no problem. This is my main production laptop (ASUS ROG G750JS-DS71 ..... i7, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX870M 3GB GDDR5, Win 8.1)

Since day ONE I have NEVER had an issue with my production sessions. I recently started using Vegas Pro 16 on here and started having this intermittent issue. I have been using Vegas since Version 1.0. (which was audio). I have found it to be one of the most "forgiving" systems for production out there in all these years. I still have it flawless on XP systems AND an old Win 98 SE that runs flawless (smile). Don't know what the anomaly is but I sense it's small.

Has anyone encountered this? Like I said, VERY intermittent... and usually just a click to do something or maybe click to add a process and then the spinning blue circle of doom. No obvious sequence of actions but keeps me gun shy to CTRL-S after even thinking about making a change.

Any clues? Thanks ... Monty
