This looks like a pretty amazing solution to a problem no one (very few) have. I'll have to convert some of my colour footage to B/W to try it out - when the demo eventually downloads...I'm on 9% downloaded and it suggests it'll take another 3 hours to finish downloading at the moment. Would have been nice as an existing customer to get a download link ahead of the general internet population.
It isn't a solution to a problem, it is a feature that enables new opportunities to make money converting people's old black and white home movies into color.

Meanwhile, there are firms that are dedicated to Video/Photo/Audio "Restoration Projects" that might disagree with you :p
That being said, there's always the question if the A.I will match manual work. Seeing these results, I would venture a confident yes presuming VCS trains their A.I a bit more.
