VEGAS Pro 18 (build 527) - Importing WAV 5.1 - what channel is what?

I apologize that my VP version is so old.

I'm attempting a fun project of combining my Shout Factory 4K Blu-rays of Halloween (1978) and Halloween II (1981) into one continuous ~3hr movie.

I've output a WAV 5.1 from the DTS-HD MA 5.1 of each film, in order to facilitate the final 5.1 project. I don't want to output a simple stereo project.

Again: I do not want to make a stereo project. I want to preserve the 5.1 tracks. (I'm only emphasizing this because I've been frustrated in the past with suggestions persuading me to simplify the stated needs of a given project.)

My questions are these:

  1. How do I know which channels are L/R/Ls/Rs, once I've imported the WAV 5.1? The Center and LFE channels are easy to discern, but none of the channels are marked, nor do they seem to adhere to the industry standard of L/C/R/Ls/Rs/LFE. Once laid into the timeline, the vertical tracks seem to be more like L/R/C/LFE/Ls/Rs...though both L/R combos could be reversed for all I know.
  2. Also, I'm not remixing anything, just hard cutting the 5.1 tracks with some judicious cross-fading. But on the Surround Panner, where do I place each track's little surround cube? Do I leave them all centered or do I have to set them for each individual speaker before rendering back out to a Final WAV 5.1?
  3. Which Pan Type should I select? There are 6 choices, from Add Channels (0 dB Center), all the way down to FILM...

I realize most 5.1 questions deal with how to make an original 5.1 project and then render it out properly, but this is from pre-existing 5.1 track(s). Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks in advance.
